I am amazed I have came this far and I am glad to say that I did not regret I took this journey of faith to embark on this course Master in Digital Business at University of Salford. It was a tough journey as I am doing this in the midst of my busy season at work, well I have never been free at work I would say. While I was contemplating to sign up for the course, I knew that it was going to be tough for me cos my work demands a lot from me, that was why I chose to complete the entire course in 2 years instead of 1, which allows me to have some breather in between.
Despite the challenges, I totally enjoyed the course. The contents of the lessons have opened up my eyes to another level of understanding and have pushed me to open up the Pandora boxes of project management, information system and search media, the areas where not my strength are. In my current job where I oversee the overall business which includes business operations, project management, branding & marketing and logistics, I am now clearer with the processes on every subject and even have insights on how to optimise my strengths in the digital world which will greatly benefit the brand I am representing and my career path too.
Especially in Search & Social Media Marketing, I learned that there are so much things I could do to excel the brand to the next level by just a few simple steps. What I appreciated most was that I learned to see my own value and the importance of self-brand. In the past, I never knew that self-brand can be non-offensive to the organisation I am working for, and thought that to prove my loyalty, all my marketing efforts must evolve around the organisation and the brand. But, after attending this course, I realised that branding myself is also an added value to the organisation. When all eyeballs are on me, naturally the attention will direct to the meaningful cause behind the work that I am doing and the clients that I am representing. In fact, the outcome will be even more effective. It drives up my confidence level and will always be reminded to put up my very best. It also opens up many collaboration partnerships and opportunities.
The study of the competitors' strengths and weaknesses has also allowed me to reflect on myself and my effort in self-branding. There are so much work to be done, but I am confident I can do it and await to see a new digital me in the next 12 months.
I'm sure you are also keen to see my development. Stay tuned and watch this space!
